A texturized twisted updo is such an elegant-with-an-edge hairstyle. It is definitely something brides should consider saying ‘I do’ to. You want it? You got it! Here’s how:

  1. Prep hair with a texturizing cream that’s light weight and also has a shine-boosting property…
  2. Curl 1 1/2” sections of a thoroughly air-dried hair using a medium size iron clamp…
  3. Do a center part until the nape once hair has cooled down…
  4. Twist one side from the front until the nape. Do the same to the other side…
  5. Join the twisted portions at the nape with an elastic…
  6. Coil the tail end all around the elastic to hide it then secure with pins. Flowers, crystal hair pins, and all that jazz are optional but are very much appreciated.

A high ponytail is a timeless look that’s practical and easy to do! Modify it by wrapping the base with a leather strip just the like the models at Kate Spade’s F/W 2014 show. It will not only make the ‘tail just a tad bit higher, it will also make it fiercer!

A sleek ponytail got redefined during the 2014 Hervé Léger Fall/Winter runway! True to the cutting-edge vibe of the collection, colorful streaks were added to the models’ straightened locks that were pulled taut into a mid ponytail. You don’t have to go permanent to achieve this look. Try clip-in streaks or a temporary hair color spray.

Bibhu Mohapatra’s homage to Tibet run the gamut – from geographic printed ensembles to tribal plaits. Hairstyle-wise, a modernized and funky version of a Tibetan braid reigned supreme at the 2014 F/W Mohapatra runway, and we love it!

How-to:

  1. Prep hair with a smoothening cream for easier styling and to kill the frizz…
  2. Divide blow-dried hair into three sections – left, right, and middle (widest). Secure each section with elastic…
  3. French braid the left and right section until the end. The middle section should be weaved until about 2” before you hit the end. Secure all with clear elastic…
  4. Create a large bun by intertwining the three sections. Make sure that the tail of the middle section is pinned under the bun and the edges untucked.

Fall/Winter 2014 Marchesa models sashayed down the runway with five section cornrows weaved until the ends while the rest of their tresses were kept loose and slightly rumpled.  There is definitely nothing basic with this half-up hairstyle yet the overall look is prim enough to be paired with a minimalist dress.

Another throwback hair accessory that’s recently been revived! Models at the Helmut Lang Fall/Winter show kept their locks away from their faces with the help of the much-loved 80’s coif piece: comb headband.  To emphasize the lines created by the headband, apply a styling cream right after you’ve thoroughly blow-dried your hair to perfection. Do a tight ponytail, and then put on the headband – starting from the front hairline pushing all the way to the crown.

If you’re itching for a subtle makeover, try tweaking a classic! In this case, do a waterfall braid in front instead of the back. Models at Nanette Lepore’s F/W 2014 runway sported a uniquely braided mane that can be easily DIY’ed!

  1. Mist dry hair with sea salt spray for better grip and texture…
  2. Do a deep side part, and then create a 4” section of hair in front – starting at the front hairline to the crown all the way down to the back of the right ear. Clip the rest of your locks to get it out of the way…
  3. Brush the section you created downwards (towards your chin) before dividing it into three sections…
  4. Start French braiding low starting an inch below the front hairline. Keep adding strands as you go lower until you reach the area above the ear…
  5. Secure the end with clear elastic before pinning it and covering it with a thick section of hair.

Eva Green was a vision in an embellished Elie Saab gown and an old world glam side-swept hairstyle at the ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ premiere in LA. Her long raven hair was given subtle large curls near the perimeter. We didn’t think she can get any hotter. Obviously, we are mistaken.

This…..Is……Fabulous! The gorgeous ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ actress attended the Los Angeles Premiere sporting an angled bob with loads of texture. Effortless waves resulted in a disheveled look that’s far too hip to ignore. A hair product (we like Aquage Uplifting Foam) with a good texturizing power with zero build up is what you need to make this work. Apply a small amount before curling your mane.

If you’re looking for an eternally chic way to keep your locks away from your face (or just simply want to show off your face because it’s just too gorgeous to hide), look no further than this! Your best friend for Odette Annable’s super sleek ponytail is a good smoothening spray (we love Sexy Hair Straight Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal Aerated Anti-Frizz and Shine Spray). Use it right after a blowout. Slice hair evenly at the center before pulling them low at the nape and securing with elastic. Wrap an inch or two around the elastic to tidy up the look.

Georgia May Jagger’s Loose Long Hairstyle

Frizz-free locks + loads of body + shine + subtle waves are a good mix to achieve a nonchalant, natural looking hairstyle. Add a deep side part to the equation and a gorgeous pout, and you’ve got an irresistible come-hither bearing.

Want waves like Jagger?

  1. To get salon-quality blowout, start by applying a small (too much will weigh your hair down) amount of heat-resistant styling cream all over damp hair. This will ensure that your mane will not get fried and will keep it shiny and soft right after blow-drying.
  2. Rough-dry hair using your fingers only. Make sure that the dryer is pointing downwards from the crown.
  3. Blow dry small sections using a large round brush. Pull the hair straight as you blow dry, and then roll the ends for good body.
  4. Blast roots with cool air right after you’re done then shake and scrunch your hair. You’re all set!

If Georgia May Jagger was going for a very modish disheveled hairstyle, we say she nailed it! She’s got a little bit of the Bardot vibe going on but with an identifiable modernity to the style. Feel like re-doing this?

  1. Dirty hair (day-old) is easier to work with when doing updos. It will give the style the ‘grip’ needed to make it last.
  2. Mist hair with a volumizing spray then rough-dry using your fingers.
  3. Curl 2” sections using a clampless iron wand for 5 seconds then release.
  4. Once hair is cool to the touch, pick out thin sections of hair in front and at the sides before gathering the rest into a high ponytail.
  5. Jooge the ends of the ‘tail before coiling it loosely around the base (where the elastic is) of the ponytail, and pin.
  6. Twirl the tendrils a bit around your fingers and you’re done!

This is both intense and interesting, isn’t it? The front section of Diane Kruger’s hairstyle is kept modest while the back is a complete opposite. Thin sections of rope braids were bunched up low at the back; one more plait is placed across her head, making the look a very haute milkmaid braid hairstyle.
